If cannibalism and eating decomposing dogs bother you, then Chew may not be right for you. If those things don't bother you... then I don't know. They certainly didn't bother me, and I felt like I should have enjoyed Chew, but I didn't like it that much.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this one. I mean, it was enjoyable, but the romance subplot felt really, really forced and squicky. The comic relief felt poorly timed and I felt like Bill Willingham didn't address most of the issues he laid out. It's like they were laid out just to be edgy.

Gonna stop me from going forward?

I definitely read Fables at some point in the past because I totally remembered this plot. It wasn't as good as the first book, to be entirely honest, but the art is better in some ways. And I do love Goldilocks in it. Spoilers later on.

I only had one minor quibble with Volume 4: not enough lying cat. But oh, oh, oh, when she showed up... Volume 4 is a bit of a time skip. We get to see Hazel as a toddler and Sophie as a kick-ass 8-year-old. The time skip felt like the right thing to do for the plot at this point. Oh, and Volume 4 made me literally cry.

You know what I love? Volume 1: three stars. Volume 2: four stars. Volume 3: five stars. Saga started off a little shaky but good, then decided to up and run with it, getting better by the second. I actually love the protagonists now, and the side characters? They've come even further. Volume 3 managed to hit my heartstrings harder than any other so far.

And it didn't even seem like it was trying.

It felt like very little happened in Volume 2, but that was a-okay with me because all of that extra time that could have been used to advance the plot was instead put towards making me fall in love with the main characters. Good choice, Saga. Good choice.

Every time I read one of Alan Moore's books, I have pretty much the same reaction: "Wow. This would be so good if Alan Moore weren't sexist, racist, and homophobic." And then I sigh wistfully. V for Vendetta has a phenomenal story to tell, but it would have been so much better if the female characters weren't portrayed so awfully.

I think I read this a long time ago? Closer to when it first came out. Regardless, it was quite enjoyable, and less predictable than most plots I come across. The premise is also a fun one that allows for good morality play and tension.
